Getting Ready For Fall!
Here are a few shots of some of the changes I have made recently to my decor. I changed the look of the large guest room by removing the green and adding black and orange accents. |
One of the simple vignettes I created. |
The old "crazy quilt" looks great! |
The hallway door/mirror got a little pizazz with the addition of some Bethany Lowe creations. |
The small quest room was perked up by a few creeping spiders, a tin witch's hat, and some fall prints and pumpkins. |
The darling Halloween house is courtesy of Bethany Lowe as well. |
The front entry table got a touch of fall color and a friendly spider. |
The coffee table shows off some cute mice in a puzzling situation. Should this one go for the pumpkin or not? |
The couch got some new pillows in black/white, silver grey and orange. The couch also got a new faux fur throw in black. |
Ravens were added around the rooms as if they just stopped by for a rest or a quick snack. |
Again, new black/white print pillows were added and an inexpensive black bean bag footstool complete the space. |
Mr. Mouse is not sure what to make of this stuffed felt cat! |
A new floral arrangement in an old Mason jar along with the glass cake plate and green pumpkin bring color to the large kitchen island. |
My handmade Halloween cat along with pumpkins and gourds of various sizes make a nice display on the dining table. Mercury glass and old silver candle sticks had interest and light to the setting. |
These happy Halloween figures light up the dining room buffet as well as the large floral stands filled with moss, pumpkins, and gourds. |
The large Pottery Barn lantern adds a nice touch to the other end of the buffet and the old woman in the picture gives the whole setting an eerie feel. |

Summer 2011
So far this summer has been jam packed! First, Chris and Cristina and family came to visit us in May. We went to the beach and aquarium and had a great time!
Dave and I went to Ohio to visit my Dad, then to Notre Dame, IN to meet our daughter Julia at her 10 year college reunion, then we traveled on to Iowa to see Julia's new home.
After a lovely week there, we traveled back to my Dad's house in Ohio. He was not doing well, so we stayed on an extra week to help get him in a better situation. We got some wonderful ladies who come in twice a day to help and things are much better.
The day after we got home, the DeAngelos arrived! We also went to the beach and aquarium and just spent time together. It was a lovely visit.
The day they left, Dave had to call the rescue squad for his brother-in-law as he found him non-responsive in his home. Dallas has been in intensive care for several days now. Dave's sister's children have come to town to help out and we have been hosting our nephew and his family while they are here.
We have also had to contend with smoke from Wildfires in the area the past two-three weeks. The result has been bad air and weird smokey skies.
My daughter, Kate and her family are hoping to come for a visit some time soon as well...probably as soon as we have rooms available at the Reintjes' Inn! :-)
David loved the beach especially the sand! It was like getting permission to play in the mud! |

Isabella left us clues to follow to find where she was hiding |
It worked! We found her! |
Dave and Bella out the beach! She loved it! Jack, not so much... |

Dave, Elizabeth and Jack with an alligator. |
Jack was mesmerized by the large fish in the giant aquarium. |

One evening around 4-5pm I took these shots. The colors were eerily orange due to the fire and smoke. |
